YoungBoy Never Broke Again, to me, is one of rap's most consistent artists. There is only a handful of songs by him that I don’t like. The conviction he has behind his voice is what draws me in. It is also very compelling to hear his perspective and outlook on the different things he faces within his life. It is no secret that he’s had a very tumultuous transition within fame, and to hear how he handles it has been very interesting.
When I first heard that he remixed Michael Jackson’s song, “Dirty Diana”, I didn’t know what to think. This is a very bold move by somebody in his music lane. I first heard a snippet on Twitter and did not think it was too bad. But, upon hearing the official version, my thoughts have shifted a little. I don’t inherently think its a bad song, but I just don’t see what him doing a song as this did for him. It was a good attempt but it falls very flat in comparison to Mike’s original version. The song didn’t pick up for me until he started rapping. I’m not worried about YoungBoy moving forward, though. I view this as just an experiment and we will continue to get the same YoungBoy that we know and love.
